Michael Kors and ellesse have joined forces in a capsule to celebrate the athletic styles of the 1970s.
- Kim Jones leaves Fendi amid fashion industry upheaval
- adidas Originals pays tribute with the release of the Bob Marley SL 72 sneaker
- Diesel and Savage x Fenty unite for first collaboration
In stores in May, the capsule offers a high-end, modern take on retro athleisure. All 24 pieces in the collection feature a hybrid logo, a fusion of the Michael Kors and ellesse’s tennis-and-ski-inspired one, called the “semi-palla”.
The capsule includes bold jackets and sweatpants, swimsuits and bucket hats in vintage patterns, sports headbands, polo shirts, windbreakers and the must-have Hudson backpack and Bradshaw shoulder bag. All in ellesse’s signature color palette of fiery oranges and reds, juxtaposed with Michael Kors’ classic shades of navy and crisp white.
Shot by fashion photographer Lachlan Bailey on a tennis court in Miami, the campaign celebrates the cool, optimistic and energetic DNA that is the hallmark of both the Michael Kors and ellesse brands. The campaign features model Emily Ratajkowski, Brooklyn, N.Y.-based rapper, singer and songwriter Jay Critch and models Lexi Boling, Herzen Clerge and Lucas Ucedo as well as musician Wolftyla and Japanese internet sensation Kemio.
The capsule collection Michael Kors x ellesse will be brought to life in a series of pop-up installations and activations around the world. They will be launching the collaboration with global events in London on May 4 and 5, followed by the New York launch event on May 12. Teams have also designed special in-store installations at Kors’ Regent Street and Rockefeller Center flagships.
