McQueen‘s Resort 2025 (Cruise 2025) collection, unveiled at the historic Hatfield House, showcases creative director Seán McGirr’s vision of aristocratic punk merged with unisex fashion. The lookbook, set against the backdrop of the grand country estate, pays homage to McQueen’s rebellious spirit and his connection to British aristocracy.
McGirr draws inspiration from English school uniforms, infusing them with a contemporary edge. The collection features tailored pieces with unexpected twists, such as double-breasted jackets with nipped waists and cargo pants with exaggerated slouch. Sweaters boast dramatically popped collars, while leather jackets juxtapose tiny proportions with bold peplums.
The designer’s commitment to unisex styling is evident throughout the collection. Paperbag-waist trousers, ruffled blouses, and cropped cardigans are designed to be worn by all genders without modification. This approach, according to McGirr, preserves the garments’ “panache” across different body types.
A standout print in the collection reimagines Velázquez’s portrait of Pope Innocent X, fragmented and reassembled on pajama separates and an asymmetrical dress. This artistic element adds a layer of cultural depth to the collection, reflecting McGirr’s passion for art and its integration into fashion.
The Resort 2025 line balances high-fashion concepts with street-ready appeal. Everyday statement pieces include jeans adorned with nail fringe embroidery and accessories featuring T-bar hardware, further emphasizing the collection’s punk influences.
By blending aristocratic elements with punk aesthetics and unisex design, McQueen’s Resort 2025 collection continues the brand’s legacy of pushing boundaries while maintaining a strong connection to British heritage and subculture.
