While almost all fashion houses have returned to physical catwalks, at Maison Margiela, John Galliano goes against the flow by unveiling his new collection through a video directed by Olivier Dahan.

In this short film, Galliano showed the same band of young fishermen and women that we already had the opportunity to discover last July in the Maison Margiela couture collection video. As they battled a scourge in July, these young people this season just wanted to have fun, have a good time and flirt with each other, embodying the desires of a new utopian youth in the age of emergence. “Invigorated by possibility, theirs is a buoyancy moved by awareness: a reverence for nature, time, and instinct, and a heroic hope for the future”.
A master craftsman skilled at creating new textures and constructing unique narratives in garments, his collection was striking with sweeping coats, denim jackets, fisherman-inspired jumpsuits with technical details inherited from haute couture.
The designer also favored weather-beaten clothing that bears “the trace of time” through enzyme and stonewash treatments, while the palette fit closely with the theme with an integral color palette of black, navy, and indigo contrasted by various shades of green, blue, yellow and ecru.
