Jonathan Anderson celebrates a decade at Loewe with a Spring/Summer 2025 collection that redefines classicism for the modern woman.
He demonstrated his unique ability to challenge fashion norms. The show opened with an eye-catching off-the-shoulder crinoline dress, whose visible underwire created a circular motif that was repeated throughout the collection. This emphasis on circularity was reinforced by the antique-style silver rings engraved with the Loewe name that were sent as invitations to guests.
Among the collection’s standout pieces were reinterpretations of French Golden Age couture dresses transformed into modern, wearable silhouettes. Mini dresses with hoops and semi-transparent floral prints were unexpectedly paired with sneakers for a refreshing take on event dressing. Anderson’s approach stripped away the fuss often associated with formal wear, making it accessible and appealing to a contemporary audience.
Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2025 line also showcased Anderson‘s mastery of tailoring, with elegantly draped pants and blazers that exuded sophistication and modernity. The designer’s attention to detail was evident in leather coats with subtly turned-up hems, adding a touch of playfulness to classic pieces.
Perhaps most intriguing were the feathered t-shirts adorned with images of classical composers and famous works of art. These pieces blurred the lines between high art and everyday wear, reflecting Anderson’s knack for incorporating cultural references into fashion.
The show’s backdrop, a single Tracey Emin sculpture of a bird perched on a pole, emphasized the collection’s focus on freedom and movement. This theme was reflected in the flowing fabrics and innovative structures of the garments, which seemed to float around the models as they walked.
