French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus has established his brand’s presence in West Hollywood with a striking new Jacquemus Los Angeles boutique that recently opened at 8800 Melrose Avenue. The 2745-square-foot (255 m²) space continues the brand’s retail expansion, following last year’s openings in London and New York.
The boutique immediately transports visitors to Provence, South of France through carefully selected architectural elements. Terra cotta brick floors arranged in a herringbone pattern provide warmth underfoot, while limestone stucco walls create a simple yet sophisticated backdrop. Olive trees and lavender plants frame the entrance, providing not only visual appeal, but also the distinctive scents of the South of France.

What sets the Jacquemus Los Angeles boutique apart is its residential feel, anchored by custom furnishings, including a remarkable 33-foot (10-meter) yellow linen sofa by Luther Quintana. Rather than feeling like a typical retail environment, the space functions almost like a collector’s home, filled with treasures from different eras and origins.
Pieces range from a Jean Royère Chaise Croisillon, which sits comfortably next to a mid-century Brutalist stool from Spain. Contemporary ceramic vases by Mathilde Martin complement a Taliesen 1 Table Lamp designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Cultural references span Art Deco influences, mid-century French design, and American pop culture, including a 1999 photograph of David Hockney by Peggy Sirota and a 1951 André Ostier image of a haute couture fitting in Paris.

Perhaps most exciting for collectors is the introduction of “La Galerie,” a curated selection of vintage jewelry and decorative objects personally sourced by Simon Porte Jacquemus from European markets and galleries. The initial collection includes approximately 20 pieces – including earrings, brooches, necklaces and bracelets – mostly dating from the 1920s to the 1960s. These sculptural designs favor artistic form over showy gemstones.
The Jacquemus Los Angeles boutique is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
