The Spring/Summer 2022 season presentations barely over, Simon Porte Jacquemus, walking in his own rhythm, staged his first fashion show in a year, for Fall/Winter 2021, in a film studio on the outskirts of Paris.
No lavender field in Provence or wheat field outside Paris, his show took place in a minimalist decor, on a blue background and green ground which recall a colorful synthesis of the mountain landscape, hence the title of his collection “The Mountain”.
“I think a lot of people are doing crazy shows outside and I didn’t want to do the race of the most crazy spots of the planet”, Jacquemus said. “I wanted to focus on the clothes, the silhouettes, the colors, the fabrics, the details and the energy of the models. I wanted the set to be minimal and sharp, recreating an abstract artistic mountain that portrays the inspiration of the collection”.
In this collection, references to mountain clothing, whether hiking or skiing, were legion.
Sheepskin jackets and long puffer jackets, hybrid cargo pants with a mid-thigh zip that can be transformed into shorts, zip-up knit sweaters, sleeveless knits, and cycling pants sit alongside more classic looks, such as tailored suits, or daring mesh tops inspired by women’s bikinis – yes, even for boys.
Note that this collection is available to buy immediately after the show.
