It’s the surprise collaboration of the end of the year! Gucci‘s experimental online store, Gucci Vault, continues its series of collaborations, after Palace Skateboards and adidas, by teaming up with Dickies to offer a collection of pieces inspired by workwear.
The collaboration comes as part of the centennial celebration of Dickies, the iconic workwear brand that is now moving into streetwear.
The eight-piece collection features reinvented Dickies classics, including the Eisenhower jacket and 874 work pants, which evolved from their workwear roots in the 1990s and became popular among streetwear enthusiasts. These pieces were thus updated with the strong boldness that Gucci is known for. While the materials, cotton twill and polyester, as well as the generous cut at the shoulders and chest remain unchanged, the Eisenhower jacket has been embellished with metallic studs in a top-to-bottom gradient, like a metallic rain falling on the jacket. The same design is applied to the 874 pants, made of a wrinkle resistant and ultra durable twill blend, which features a similar set of studs, while a shorter, beige version of both pieces is offered to the female gender. A beige work shirt and Bermuda shorts (with fewer studs) complete the collection.
Gucci launched its Vault concept in September 2021 as an online store that features vintage and archival pieces as well as exclusive limited edition collaborations. Many top designers have answered the call for these collaborations, including Luar, ERL, Wales Bonner, Vans and Martine Rose.
