Italian fashion house Fendi has strengthened its presence in Spain with the opening of its first boutique in Madrid’s upscale Salamanca district. Located on the prestigious Calle Ortega y Gasset, the 2583-square-foot (240 m²) space marks a significant milestone in the luxury brand’s expansion into the Spanish market.
The boutique showcases an innovative architectural concept masterfully executed by the Fendi Architecture Department. The space harmoniously blends Italian refinement with Spanish architectural elements, creating an environment that pays homage to both cultures. The striking façade features heritage-inspired windows that offer generous views into the meticulously curated interior.
Upon entering, visitors are greeted by an impressive double-height space where white and pink travertine floors intersect with green St. Denis marble, presenting a modern interpretation of traditional Spanish lozenge patterns. On the ground floor, an extensive collection of women’s accessories is displayed against elegantly textured travertine marble walls adorned with Karl Lagerfeld‘s signature Fendi logo sketches.
Fendi collaborated with emerging Spanish designers and the prestigious Alzueta Gallery to create a space that celebrates both fashion and art.
The carefully selected artwork includes compelling pieces by Stan Van Steendam and a distinctive Rima yellow marble table by Roberto Sironi. A graceful walnut staircase leads to the mezzanine level, where the women’s ready-to-wear collection and an exclusive VIC (Very Important Client) room await.
The upper level features stainless steel walls complemented by artwork from the Temperature Collection by Aythamy Armas, whose mixed media pieces were specifically selected to honor Spain’s artistic heritage. The VIC room features sophisticated black and white Patagonia marble flooring and custom FF patterned walls, creating an atmosphere of ultimate luxury.
Local art continues to play a central role throughout the space, with Maru Quinoñero’s pencil piece “The Corner” adding a contemplative touch to the fitting area. The boutique’s fur panels, featuring unique motifs, serve as a reminder of Fendi‘s Roman heritage and exceptional craftsmanship.
