The Etro Spring/Summer 2025 show in Milan was a vibrant departure for the brand, showcasing Marco de Vincenzo’s bold interpretation of the Etro aesthetic. Gone were the familiar bohemian and bourgeois elements, replaced by a collection that pulsated with the energy of a beachside flamenco party.
de Vincenzo infused the collection with a distinctly southern Italian spirit, drawing inspiration from the agave plant, a symbol of rebirth and renewal that was prevalent in his Sicilian childhood. This theme of transformation was evident throughout the show, starting with the towering agave sculptures that dominated the runway.
The collection itself was a riot of color and texture. Psychedelic prints, inflated floral patterns and intricate embellishments adorned slinky silhouettes and sculpted shapes. de Vincenzo played with contrasts, pairing cropped hoodies with billowing skirts and tough leather biker shorts with delicate lace and sheer fabrics. The overall effect was one of vibrant, uninhibited maximalism, yet executed with a sense of ease and fluidity.
The soundtrack, performed live by Sardinian musician Daniela Pes, amplified this feeling, enveloping the collection in a sonic landscape that was both powerful and intoxicating. Pes’ blend of electronic textures and traditional vocal styles perfectly reflected the collection’s own fusion of modern and ancient influences.
While some pieces, like the biker shorts, may prove divisive, there’s no denying the overall impact of the collection. de Vincenzo has confidently steered Etro in a new direction, embracing a bolder, more sensual vision for the brand.
