Unveiled today, Dua Lipa will collaborate with Donatella Versace to create a collection for the Italian fashion house’s 2023 high-summer lineup.
Named “La Vacanza” (The Holiday), the collection will make its first appearance at Versace’s runway show on May 23rd in Cannes, France. Coinciding with the Cannes Film Festival, which runs from May 16th to 27th, the event will occur during the same week, although not included in the official program.
In an exciting new partnership, Dua Lipa, a longtime Versace muse, has teamed up with Donatella Versace to co-design the “La Vacanza” women’s collection. Donatella expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Working with Dua on this collection has been very exciting and I love the dynamic between us. Dua is strong, fearless, and free and her creative vision is exceptional”.
The Dua Lipa x Versace collection is expected to reflect the vibrant energy and colors of summertime, with Donatella adding that they aim to “capture this feeling and the colors of that time of the year with a truly special and intimate fashion show in Cannes“. Although specific details about the collection are limited, fans can anticipate a range of holiday-ready party dresses reminiscent of those worn by Lipa during her first runway appearance at the Versace Milan show in September.
Expressing her gratitude and excitement about the collaboration, Lipa said, “I am absolutely thrilled to have co-designed the women’s La Vacanza collection for Versace with Donatella. She and I have formed such a strong bond over the years, and I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received from her and the whole team since the very beginning of my career”.
The Dua Lipa x Versace “La Vacanza” collection will be available in stores and online at versace.com immediately following the show on May 23rd. This collaboration is the latest in a series of successful partnerships between Lipa and Versace, which began in 2017 when the two first met at the Versus show in London. Since then, the singer has donned numerous Versace creations, including three outfits at the 2021 Grammy Awards, and a vintage black leather dress from the label’s 1992 fall ready-to-wear collection at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
With strong women serving as a constant source of inspiration for Versace, the collaboration with Lipa is a natural fit.
