Inspired by the Indian festival Holi and the iconic festival Tomorrowland, the Antwerp-based designer explored the collective energy and joy of a rowdy audience, fireworks, and concerts.
“It’s the biggest dance festival in the world, with all the top DJs, and it’s here in Belgium”, Van Noten said. “When you look at the pictures, some people are completely dressed up, some are in easy clothes, but they’re sharing something. That was what I wanted to play with in this collection. Visual fireworks!”.
The end result? Layered swags of colorful fringe, dense beading and a range of blurred and smudged prints in vivid, sometimes saturated and psychedelic colors (lime greens, bold oranges, vibrant pinks, purple, mint, turquoise, chocolate taupe, fuchsia, cloque with stripes in black).
There also were suits with abstract graphic prints, cocoon coats with lacquer-esque hot pink sleeves, and architectural silk evening gowns. The whole collection was truly fabulous.
