Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the design duo behind the iconic Dolce & Gabbana, seem to have had enough of the dark cloud that has settled over the fashion world. For their Spring/Summer 2025 collection, they’ve decided to inject a dose of lightheartedness and glamour, taking inspiration from cinema’s most captivating blondes.

The collection is a love letter to legendary actresses such as Marilyn Monroe, Monica Vitti and Marlene Dietrich. Platinum blonde wigs adorned the models as they sashayed down the runway in form-fitting pin-up gowns and sharply sculpted bras reminiscent of a bygone era. But this wasn’t just a historical rehash. The designers cleverly integrated these vintage elements into modern silhouettes, creating a collection that felt both nostalgic and undeniably contemporary.

The influence of Madonna, a longtime muse of the brand and a woman who single-handedly revived the 1950s aesthetic during her reign in the late 20th century, was evident. Dolce & Gabbana, who designed costumes for Madonna’s 1993 ‘’Girlie Show’’ tour, clearly still hold her bold fashion choices in high regard.

The emphasis on lingerie as outerwear was unmistakable. Bras, especially those with daring bullet cups, took center stage. They were playfully revealed under classic trenches, formed the basis of slinky cocktail dresses and even added an unexpected twist to tailored jackets. A standout piece was a black satin tuxedo with built-in conical cups – a testament to the brand’s tailoring prowess and ability to seamlessly blend structure and sensuality.

This collection served as a retrospective for Dolce & Gabbana, marking the upcoming 40th anniversary of their brand. While last season they explored the sharp lines of the tuxedo, this season they embraced a softer, more feminine energy. A pale pink sheath dress, its modesty offset by a suggestively pointed bodice, was a direct homage to a youthful Marilyn Monroe. Equally charming were the strapless baby blue dresses and the vibrant floral prints, particularly a striking red rose pattern set against a crisp white background.

As for the return of the bullet bra? Its presence on recent red carpets suggests that the trend may be here to stay. In an era where exposing the nipple has become a statement, embracing padded and pointy silhouettes seems like the next logical step in fashion’s ever-evolving narrative.
