For the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, which was held in a disco-like atmosphere with glimmering mirrors as a backdrop, the Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana did not disappoint us.

In classic Dolce & Gabbana fashion, the runway was dripping in jewels and gaudy prints. In a way, it brought us back to the Dolce & Gabbana of the early 2000s. The year 2000 was peak Dolce & Gabbana, a moment when the glorious excesses of their aesthetic were swinging the fashion pendulum from the minimalist ’90s to the go-go early ’00s.
“We thought we’d do something not similar, but in the same mood as that 2000 collection. We’re coming out of a dark time and we want to enjoy life. We want light”, Stefano Gabbana said.
Thus, the designers raided their Spring/Summer 2000 collection, updating archive pieces and reinventing old staples for the elusive Gen-Z.
Combining textures, the collection had an edgy-feel that meets luxe glam, with black moto-jackets set with studs, jeans and baggy pants inlaid with glittering gems and intricate patterns from florals to leopard prints. Other throwbacks included reference to J.Lo on t-shirt prints or underwear becoming outwear in the form of vampy corset dresses and diaphanous leotards.
