The COS Fall/Winter 2024 collection graced the runway at New York Fashion Week, transforming the industrial Agger Fish Building at the Brooklyn Navy Yard into a haven of understated elegance. The H&M-owned brand, known for its accessibility and sophisticated design ethos, presented a collection that seamlessly blended structure and fluidity, a nod to the captivating work of choreographer Pina Bausch. Creative director Karin Gustafsson, a Royal College of Art alumna, delivered a compelling testament to the brand’s ability to capture the zeitgeist while maintaining its signature minimalist aesthetic.
Gustafsson’s vision for COS Fall/Winter 2024 resonated through a palette of earthy tones, rich textures, and vibrant fabrics, with pops of green adding a refreshing contrast. The collection showcased the brand’s commitment to innovative design and expert craftsmanship, evident in the tactile surfaces and meticulously crafted silhouettes. Sheer layers, spidery knits, and tie-neck blouses added a touch of romanticism, while the brand’s burgeoning accessories line provided the perfect finishing touches. Gustafsson’s attention to detail was evident in the ballet flats adorned with detachable beaded tassels, which could also be worn as earrings, and the matching socks that created a chic sock-bootie effect.
