Carven, owned by China’s ICCF Group, has appointed Mark Thomas as its new Director of Design. Thomas, who joined the house in 2023 as a senior designer, steps into the role following the departure of Louise Trotter to Bottega Veneta earlier this year. Trotter, with Thomas as her right hand, successfully revitalized Carven over three seasons, earning praise for collections that were both sophisticated and commercially viable.

A graduate of Central Saint Martins, Thomas brings a wealth of experience from his time at Givenchy, Joseph and Neil Barrett, where he led menswear under Trotter and Helmut Lang as Creative director from 2017 to 2019, before reuniting with Trotter at Lacoste and heading to Carven.
While Carven did not elaborate on Thomas’ specific creative direction, the brand emphasized that the team will “continue to build on the foundations and refine the codes and style forged for the house.”
Carven also said that Thomas has designed the Fall/Winter 2025 collection, and the next Spring/Summer 2026 show in Paris will showcase his vision more fully.
