As part of the ‘’Friends and Family’’ series he initiated last year for his Burberry Pre-collections, this season Ricardo Tisci tapped the artist Jared Buckhiester, who infuses the Burberry’s Resort 2023 (Cruise 2023) collection with a biker vibe heavy with black leather.
The collection – the second in the ‘’Friends and Family’’ series – playfully recontextualized the functionality of workwear. “Riccardo and I have a crossover in our love of workwear aesthetics. So much of my work as an artist draws upon the masculine archetype that inhabits these clothes. Immediately, I was interested in playing within this space, and it’s been a fruitful place to create from”, Buckhiester told WWD.
The collection included colorful workwear embellished with glamorous black leather, contemporary touches of gender non-conformity and bold patterns like a pixelated Burberry check, a crystals all-over pattern or the famous Equestrian Knight Design knitted in intarsia or 3D printed.
