The NBA, in partnership with Mitchell & Ness, has unveiled a fresh capsule collection, co-designed by their ambassador and BTS star, Suga.
When Suga was crowned as an NBA ambassador last spring, many astutely sensed the imminent blend of fashion-forward creativity and sporty verve. Fast forward to today, and the partnership takes flight with a captivating NBA capsule collection – the brainchild of this global music phenomenon and the National Basketball Association.
Enriched with Suga’s profound artistic touch, this apparel line boasts NBA team-branded delights – from chic t-shirts and snuggly hoodies to sleek jackets, shorts, and iconic headwear. The teams spotlighted- Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, LA Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, and New York Knicks – were not arbitrarily chosen. These echo the melodies of cities where Suga graced fans during his dazzling Suga | Agust D TOUR ‘D-DAY’. He infused many designs with his Agust D signature and drew upon motifs from his “D-Day” album to accentuate the apparel.
“I’m so excited for the next phase of my relationship with the league with the launch of my very own NBA capsule collection,” Suga expressed. “As a longtime fan of the NBA and its teams, this collection is incredibly special to me. I look forward to sharing this with all of you.”
And share he did. For those craving an early glimpse, or better yet, an early purchase, www.nba.com/sugaxnba is the digital portal to this sartorial wonderland.
Last September, Suga was a prominent figure at the 2022 NBA Japan Games, cheering for the Warriors and Washington Wizards from courtside seats. He shared exclusive social media snapshots and mingled with basketball elites. On January 12th, he was spotted at a Dallas Mavericks vs. Lakers match, and come April 30th, he graced the first game of the 2023 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals, featuring the Miami Heat and Knicks. Recently, he spotlighted in the 2023 NBA Finals campaign titled “We Are All in the Finals.”
Always a trendsetter, Suga’s fashion influence extends beyond BTS. While he holds the NBA ambassador title with pride, Valentino recognized his sartorial flair, appointing him as a brand envoy in January. Moreover, 2021 saw him embrace haute couture, collaborating with Louis Vuitton and the legendary Virgil Abloh as part of BTS’ ambassadorship.
