Following his first-ever runway collection for the house in February, Matthieu Blazy has now unveiled his debut Bottega Veneta campaign, for Fall/Winter 2022.
Shot on film over several weeks from backstage at the brand’s show venue in Milan, all the way to the Horst Festival in Belgium and to Sorrento, Italy; the campaign enlisted an array of models and photographers/cinematographers, some of whom had never aimed their cameras at a fashion shoot ever before. There are ‘’41 still and moving images’’, as Bottega Veneta‘s press release explains, taken by Malick Bodian (who also models for the brand), Louise and Maria Thornfeldt (a photography duo based between Paris and Copenhagen), Solène Sahmaran Gün, Sander Muylaert, Francois Halard (French photographer known for interior design and architecture), Benoit Debie (Belgian cinematographer known for his work with Gaspar Noé), Gretar Gunnlaugsson and Luca Werner.
“Bottega Veneta was created by a collective of artisans. This is the history, and this is how we approached the campaign: together, with many different ways of seeing“, Blazy said, in a statement. “Bottega Veneta is in essence pragmatic because it is a leather goods company. Because it specializes in bags it is about movement, of going somewhere; there is fundamentally an idea of craft in motion. It is style over fashion in its timelessness. That is part of its quiet power“.
Showcased in the campaign are focal Fall/Winter pieces like leather suiting, structural blazers, knitwear with multicolored abstract designs, classic button-down shirts, fanciful yet clean dresses, relaxed tailored pants and more. Other highlights in the collection include Bottega Veneta’s signature leather web design across an array of bags and thigh-high boots.
