The winds of change are blowing through the halls of Blumarine. After a period of transition, the Italian fashion house presents its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, a testament to the resilience and creative spirit of the in-house team as they navigate the arrival of newly appointed Creative director David Koma. While Koma’s vision will be unveiled in upcoming Pre-Fall 2025, this season offers a compelling glimpse into Blumarine’s evolving identity.
Inspired by the fluidity of water and the ethereal nature of light, the collection presents a more streamlined interpretation of the brand’s signature femininity. Gone are the overly saccharine notes, replaced by a breezy sensuality reminiscent of the early 2000s. The aquatic theme manifests itself in several captivating forms. Liquid prints reminiscent of Nick Knight’s photography adorn slip dresses, while delicate 3D floral appliqués embellished with beaded fringes cascade down mini frocks. Transparent sequins and shimmering crystal fringes mimic the gentle undulation of water droplets, adding a touch of magic to the collection. The ethereal aesthetic extends to the fabrics themselves. Sheer, lightweight materials like chiffon and georgette billow and flow, creating a sense of effortless movement in voluminous blouses and tiered minidresses.
However, this collection is not only defined by its diaphanous lightness. Slim, laced leather trousers provide a structured counterpoint to the fluidity, while the brand’s iconic leopard print undergoes a transformation, appearing in a faded, sun-bleached palette, as if washed ashore after a dip in the ocean. This subtle reinvention extends to the color palette, which evokes a sense of sun-drenched serenity. Washed-out pastels and pristine whites dominate the collection, further emphasizing the carefree spirit of the season.
