Iconic British outerwear brands Barbour and Baracuta have joined forces for an exciting Fall/Winter 2024 capsule collection. This collaboration blends the rich heritage and northern spirit of both labels, offering a range of stylish yet functional pieces designed to withstand harsh weather conditions.
The collection pays homage to Baracuta’s legendary G9 Harrington Jacket, a fashion staple since the 1950s that has been embraced by various subcultures. Ian Bergin, Barbour’s Director of Menswear, emphasizes the thoughtful approach taken in designing this line: “Carefully melding together the DNA of both brands was key to this collaboration. We wanted to pay tribute to the Northern roots of Barbour and Baracuta, and the people that have worn our jackets over the years.”
A standout piece is a reimagined version of Barbour’s classic Bedale jacket, now with Baracuta’s signature dog-ear collar. The G9 Harrington Jacket is also updated with Barbour’s renowned waxed cotton and brass hardware. A Mod Casual Parka, inspired by 1960s fashion, blends military elements with a Britpop aesthetic.
The collection extends beyond outerwear to include accessories such as bucket hats, trapper caps and knitwear. A unique design element is the fusion of Barbour’s House Tartan and Baracuta’s Fraser Tartan, honoring the Scottish heritage of both brands.
The campaign showcases the collection against the backdrop of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, where Baracuta was founded in 1938. Inspired by English artist L.S. Lowry, the imagery captures the industrial essence of the city. Menswear commentator and model Danny Lomas stars in the campaign, embodying the modern yet nostalgic spirit of this collaboration.
The Barbour x Baracuta Fall/Winter 2024 collection is now available online and in select stores, giving fashion enthusiasts the chance to own a piece of British fashion history.
