Japanese fashion label Auralee and New Balance are set to release their MADE in USA 990v4 collaboration on Friday, December 13th. The release marks their first MADE in USA partnership since 2019. The sneaker first debuted at Paris Fashion Week Men’s Fall/Winter 2024 in January.
The sneaker features luxurious nubuck panels paired with technical mesh, while premium suede overlays add textural depth.
The partnership results in two distinct versions. The taupe edition features subtle dusty blue accents, while its counterpart flips the script with a dusty blue base complemented by unexpected lime green details. A custom shoebox completes the offering.
Manufactured in New Balance’s Massachusetts facility, these sneakers uphold the MADE in USA standard of excellence.
“This sneaker is a modern expression of Japanese and American craftsmanship, resonating with a new generation of urbanites,” said a joint statement from the collaborators.
The 990 silhouette has a rich history, dating back to its inception in 1982 when New Balance introduced it as “the best running shoe on the market.” With its understated gray colorway and unprecedented three-figure price tag, the 990 quickly became a status symbol among runners and tastemakers.
The Auralee × New Balance MADE in USA 990v4 will be available at select retailers worldwide.
