Iconic eyewear brand Ray-Ban has appointed A$AP Rocky as the first-ever Creative director of Ray-Ban Studios, a creative platform launched in 2011 to celebrate the power of music and the stories of diverse artists. By bringing Rocky on board, Ray-Ban is taking a fresh step forward, blending its classic style with modern trends that reflect Rocky’s unique approach to fashion. The move demonstrates the brand’s commitment to staying relevant while honoring its long history.
Ray-Ban president Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio shared his thoughts on the brand’s latest move. He said that Ray-Ban is more than just an eyewear company – it’s a way of life. For nearly 80 years, the brand has been worn by some of the world’s most famous musicians, artists, actors, and cultural icons. These individuals have helped shape trends and redefine what’s cool over the decades.

Del Vecchio also expressed his excitement about A$AP Rocky joining the Ray-Ban team. He called Rocky “a visionary artist and creator” who isn’t afraid to explore new ideas and push boundaries. This mindset, he explained, is perfectly aligned with what Ray-Ban stands for: innovation, boldness, and a forward-thinking attitude. Del Vecchio sees this partnership as a way to strengthen the brand’s core values while entering an exciting new chapter.
In his statement, Del Vecchio emphasized that this is just the beginning of what’s to come for Ray-Ban. With Rocky on board, the brand is ready to embrace the future with confidence and creativity.
A$AP Rocky shared his thoughts on joining Ray-Ban, expressing his admiration for the brand’s unique balance of staying connected to its history while always moving forward. He said he was honored to be part of such a legendary brand and looked forward to helping shape its future. Rocky emphasized his excitement to contribute to Ray-Ban’s next chapter, calling it a chance to build on its iconic legacy.
Rocky’s first project as Creative director is the Blacked Out Collection, a bold reimagining of the Mega Icons with the darkest lenses Ray-Ban has ever produced. Set to launch in April, the collection is just the beginning of his creative vision. Rocky has already immersed himself in the brand’s history, visiting its first factory in Agordo, Italy, to understand the craftsmanship behind the products. His influence will extend beyond design, shaping campaigns, store concepts and market strategies.
The appointment follows Rocky’s impressive track record in fashion, including successful collaborations with Calvin Klein and JW Anderson or campaigns for DKNY and Dior Homme, as well as a long-standing creative partnership with Puma and Formula 1.

Born Rakim Mayers, A$AP – whose name stands for Always Strive and Prosper – has been a major figure in global culture since he first came to prominence in 2016. His music has been streamed billions of times, and he’s won several awards, including the Cultural Innovator Award at the British Fashion Awards. He’s also preparing to release his fourth studio album, “Don’t Be Dumb,” in early 2025.
Recently, Rocky was in the news for a legal case. He was found not guilty of two felony charges related to an incident in November 2021 involving assault with a semi-automatic firearm. This verdict came just before his appointment as Creative director of Ray-Ban.
