For Spring/Summer 2022, AMIRI presents its first standalone womenswear collection. Sitting solely under the womenswear umbrella for the first time, Mike Amiri translates his design codes to a defined vision and vocabulary for the AMIRI woman to thrive on.

Timeless AMIRI womenswear archetypes are established within an intuitive wardrobe. Each garment is crafted to emphasize the wearer’s unique personality and expression – informing one another; in tune and on beat. Outlined by AMIRI’s distinctive aesthetic, Spring/Summer 2022 draws a contemporary vision of empowerment that transcends gender: menswear inspires womenswear and vice versa. Within this dialogue, visions of classic Americana are awakened, warped and confidently reworked around a harmonic interplay between volume, shapes and relaxed structure.
Subverting classic proportions, the silhouette is soft, relaxing with a Californian sense of ease; cut with broad shoulders before narrowing through the body and pooling towards the ground in generous proportions. Natural tones fill the color palette, borrowed from the vivid landscapes of AMIRI’s native Los Angeles: black, alabaster, chocolate brown, heather grey and indigo assemble across fabrics that combine to create innovative hybrid textures: cashmere, leather, wool, denim, down, jersey, bouclé and French terry.
Experimentation developed in-house studies ideas of “undoing” and “hybridization” – a calling card of AMIRI womenswear. Denim is spliced with leather to create new dimensions in dialogue with AMIRI’s reconstructive craft, while puffer coat shapes cocoon the body using a unique blend of leathers and nylon. In a play of formal and informal codes, a combination of bouclé and leather evolves the silhouette of AMIRI’s minimalist tailoring; oversized double-breasted blazers have the personality of outerwear, paired with wide-leg pants, while loose shirting offers irresistible lightness and versatility.
New definitions mirror the evolving notions of sartorial comfort; double-denim becomes a contemporary uniform, plaid workwear shirting is paired with traditionally formal woolen overcoats, and knitwear crafted in mixed yarns and hand-knitted techniques apply couture techniques to wardrobe staples. An indigo denim overshirt and jean combination is cut with dramatic expression, featuring contrast topstitching, oversized front pockets and flared cuffs, while structured trench coats emphasize empowerment. Perfecto jackets are elongated, almost becoming overcoats, and silhouettes borrowed from classic zip workwear jackets are reimagined through AMIRI’s singular luxury lens – paired with pant loop hardware and key chain to encourage a tough sensibility.
Processes and treatments imbue garments with unique personalities: black and indigo denim are developed in multiple washes with full detail, veining and whiskering, as different shades combine with over-dye techniques to encourage texture and dimension.
Elevating the silhouette, pointed heeled boots feature exotic finishes, while many looks are finished with hallmark sneakers from AMIRI’s footwear canon including the Bone Runner, Skel Top and Stadium. AMIRI’s new rubber pool slides round out the footwear. In hand, AMIRI’s signature jax hardware is fitted to large weekend bags crafted in Italian leather.
With this collection, the archetypal AMIRI woman is introduced: empowered and at ease, with total clarity of purpose.
