Joseph Altuzarra has never shied away from designing for women who demand more from fashion than mere adornment. His Fall/Winter 2025 collection, recently presented at the Woolworth Building in Manhattan, reaffirms his reputation as a designer attuned to the nuances of modern femininity. Set against an all-white backdrop, the clothes spoke with clarity. The designer’s appreciation for literature was evident in his decision to present attendees with copies of Emily Brontë’s “Wuthering Heights,” creating an atmosphere of gothic romance that permeated the entire show.
The collection speaks directly to the multifaceted nature of the modern woman. “She wears her history as armor, unafraid to show her scars,” Altuzarra noted during the presentation, reflecting the depth of his creative approach.

The collection masterfully balances utility with elegance. Flowing coats were paired with ankle-length skirts and sturdy boots, creating ensembles that protect against winter’s chill while maintaining a sophisticated appeal. These practical pieces alternated harmoniously with flowing dresses in sumptuous silks and delicate chiffons, demonstrating Altuzarra’s expertise in creating versatile wardrobes.
The footwear selection was particularly notable, with almond toe kitten heel slingbacks that perfectly embodied the practical yet refined essence of the collection. These shoes evolved into slightly elevated versions throughout the show, offering options for different occasions without sacrificing comfort.
While neutrals dominated the palette, strategic bursts of primary colors – particularly bold blues and reds – punctuated the collection. The prints were inspired by personal artifacts, as Altuzarra described in the show notes: “Smudged kisses resemble marks left on a napkin, while botanical prints evoke dried flowers – preserved or hastily sketched in a notebook. Both speak to forgotten intimacies.”
The collection is more than just beautiful garments; it offers a complete wardrobe solution for women who appreciate both functionality and beauty. Through careful consideration of materials, silhouettes and styling, Altuzarra has created pieces that resonate with confident, modern women. He designs not for who women might become, but for who they already are.
