Woven with a rich sense of heritage, adidas reveals the latest Manchester United away jersey for the 2023/24 season. Envisioned as a tribute to the club’s illustrious past, the new kit simultaneously epitomizes a fresh, modern outlook, catering to a vibrant generation of football stars primed for the global stage.
For the first time in two decades, vertical stripes find their way back onto the Manchester United jersey. Echoing the hallmark design of the club’s early years, the new away kit features a vibrant reinterpretation of the classic green color, maintaining an undeniable sense of familiarity while offering an innovative twist. Be it on the pitch or amid the roar of the crowd on the terraces, the jersey exudes a fresh, modern aesthetic.
The dynamic design embodies the spirit of Manchester, intertwining the city’s renowned red-bricked architectural narrative. Maroon-red lines bisecting white blocks mirror the city’s distinctive landscape, while a night green base reflects the hues found in its vibrant urban structures. The jersey’s appearance is brought together with a clean, white, ribbed crew-neck – the finishing touch to this contemporary rendition.
Inigo Turner, the design director at adidas, expressed his excitement about revisiting a design so deeply interwoven with the club’s history. “Vertical stripes are in the DNA of Manchester United, and we hope this bold new look captures the imaginations of fans as they journey across the world, backing their team. We consciously derived inspiration from the city itself, aiming to provide players and fans a piece of home, regardless of where they sport it“, Turner said.
The on-field variant of the shirt boasts HEAT.RDY technology, primed to ensure optimal player comfort under the glaring spotlight. For the fans, the kit incorporates AEROREADY technology, employing sweat-absorbing materials to maintain a dry, comfortable wear.
This new jersey isn’t just a beacon of inspiration; it also stands for adidas’s commitment to a sustainable future. Constructed from 100% recycled materials, the kit showcases adidas’s dedication to combatting plastic waste.
The debut of this kit was marked on Manchester United’s US pre-season tour against Wrexham A.F.C in San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium on July 25th. As of July 24th, the jersey has been available for purchase via Manchester United stores, select adidas retail outlets, and online on the adidas Manchester United kits platform.
