Dunhill is preparing for a prominent place on the January menswear calendar. At Pitti Uomo 111, the London house will take the role of guest designer, presenting its Fall 2027 collection in Florence on January 14th, during the fair’s four-day run from January 12th to 15th.
The choice brings together two traditions that have shaped European menswear in different ways. Dunhill has long been associated with British tailoring, formal dressing and leather goods. Florence, meanwhile, remains closely linked to Italian craftsmanship and to Pitti Uomo’s role as an international meeting point for menswear buyers, editors and designers.
For its Florence presentation, Dunhill plans to examine the long relationship between British residents and the Tuscan city. From the nineteenth century onward, a notable Anglo Florentine community developed there, bringing British habits of dress into contact with local methods of making and finishing clothes.

That exchange gives Creative director Simon Holloway a clear framework for the collection. Rather than treating Florence simply as a backdrop, the house is using the city’s history as part of the design research. The idea is to consider how English restraint can sit beside Italian craft without turning either tradition into costume.
The planned salon format should place close attention on fabric, proportion and finish, rather than on the scale of the venue itself.
Holloway described the invitation as especially meaningful because of Pitti Uomo’s position in menswear. His approach at Dunhill has focused on precise tailoring, fine materials and a broader wardrobe that extends beyond suits. Since joining the brand in 2023, he has also drawn on relationships with both British and Italian mills.

His experience in Italy is relevant to the project. Earlier in his career, Holloway served as creative director of Agnona and held senior roles at other companies including Hogan. His work has covered ready-to-wear, footwear and accessories, giving him a practical understanding of how different product categories can support a single menswear identity.
Dunhill’s appearance also continues Pitti Uomo’s established practice of inviting London-based designers and houses to Florence. Previous guests have included Paul Smith, Simone Rocha and Martine Rose. Each invitation has helped the fair broaden its view of menswear beyond the exhibition stands while keeping attention on design, construction and personal style.

Founded in London in 1893, Dunhill is now part of Richemont. The company remains best known for tailoring but also produces outerwear, casual clothing and leather accessories. It has dressed actors including Pierce Brosnan, Benedict Cumberbatch and Josh Dallas for major public appearances.
For readers watching the next menswear season, the key point is not simply that Dunhill is showing in Florence. Pitti Uomo 111 gives Holloway a setting in which the brand can test how convincingly its British identity can be reworked through Italian context and craft. The result will offer a useful measure of where Dunhill is heading under his direction.
