Bottega Veneta turns Milan into a confessional for its winter 2026 campaign

Milan, a city of hard edges, becomes the stage for a Bottega Veneta campaign that favors intimacy over spectacle, shot through Juergen Teller's unfiltered lens.

Bottega Veneta chose Milan as the setting for its Winter 2026 campaign, photographed by Juergen Teller under creative director Louise Trotter. The campaign features locations including Villa Terenzio Belloli and Fondazione Pagani. Its imagery combines Brutalist architecture, intimate interiors, and clothing photographed with a deliberately understated, unpolished aesthetic.

Milan is not usually cast as an intimate setting; it’s a city built on hard edges and imposing facades. Nevertheless, Bottega Veneta chose it as the setting for its Winter 2026 campaign, which says something about where the label wants to go next. Under creative director Louise Trotter, the label is leaning less on spectacle and more on atmosphere. Photographer Juergen Teller shot the images, and his style is evident: the flat lighting, slightly off angles, and sense that these people were caught mid-thought rather than mid-pose.

The campaign moves through a handful of locations that read like a private tour rather than a postcard route. Villa Terenzio Belloli provides the interiors, with shadowed rooms and quiet furniture. Fondazione Pagani provides the outdoor sculptures: blunt concrete shapes standing against soft afternoon light. The rest of Milan sits between them, a city that has always held two personalities at once: severe on the outside and warm once you get past the front door.

This contrast is the driving force of the entire project. Brutalist buildings crowd up against small, human gestures: a hand resting on a table or a coat slipping off one shoulder. Trotter has said that she wants Bottega Veneta to feel like a house where craftsmanship and imagination coexist, and this campaign translates that idea into images. Nothing here is overworked. The clothes look lived in, not staged.

Juergen Teller‘s involvement matters more than a press release can explain. He built his reputation by photographing people as they actually look under harsh lighting without much fuss about flattering angles. This approach could easily clash with a leather goods company known for its precision. Instead, it does the opposite. It strips away the gloss and lets the craftsmanship speak for itself, whether it’s a woven bag or the sharp line of a coat collar.

Milan gives the campaign its backbone. The city’s architecture swings from monumental to intimate within a few blocks, and Bottega Veneta deliberately uses this contrast. A stark concrete façade gives way to a quiet room with a single lamp. A public sculpture sits beside a private gesture. None of it feels forced, and this restraint is the real accomplishment.

Fashion campaigns often chase drama. This one chases something quieter: a sense of place and of people actually inhabiting the clothes they wear. Whether this quieter approach translates into sales is a separate question.
