Some sneakers try hard to impress; AMI Alexandre Mattiussi’s Mirage sneakers simply go about their business with quiet confidence. The French fashion house, founded by Alexandre Mattiussi, has expanded its Mirage lineup beyond last season’s offerings, adding new models that build on the original design while retaining its initial appeal.

The Mirage arrived for Fall/Winter 2025 with a clear concept: a unisex shoe built for real life, not for display. Ultra-lightweight and flexible, the Mirage draws from traditional footwear references while incorporating technically considered details. The silhouette sits atop an exclusive, precision-molded lugged rubber sole designed by AMI Alexandre Mattiussi for grip, durability, and cushioning. A microfiber tongue ensures virtually zero break-in time. For anyone who has spent a painful week softening a new pair, that last point alone is worth paying attention to.

Mattiussi has never been a designer who shouts. His clothes, like his shoes, tend to work quietly but deliberately. The Mirage follows that logic. Its chic yet technical construction reimagines classic footwear design by translating the tension between tradition and evolution through the distinctive interplay of the custom-made spiked sole unit and soft upper. This design is particularly reminiscent of traditional driving shoes. That reference feels intentional. Driving shoes have always existed at the intersection of sport and elegance, and the Mirage occupies the same space.

The new lineup now spans two distinct material directions. The Nappa leather version, available in black and white, keeps things simple and graphic. It has a clean silhouette, tonal stitching, and a sculptural sole profile that catches the light. The smooth leather counterpart features tonal embossing on the insole, “AMI” lettering injected into the heel, and contrasting stitching that highlights the sole’s profile. On the other end of the spectrum are the mesh versions, which come in beige, grey, yellow, and black. Each pair comes with two sets of laces for styling versatility. The color range reads as genuinely wearable rather than forced: gray and beige for those who prefer an understated look and yellow and black for those who don’t.

The Ami de Cœur, a heart-crowned capital “A,” appears on the tongue, and the AMI Alexandre Mattiussi logo appears on the pull tab. Small touches. They’re the kind that remind you a human being made decisions here.

The campaign accompanying the Mirage, titled “Connected by a Shared Dream,” is rooted in the Parisian community. It follows the four founders of the restaurant Le Cheval d’Or and tells a story of friendship and craft. This story is meant to reflect how connection drives creation. It’s smart framing. Sneaker launches rarely feel this considered.
