The watch community has long used the nickname “Pepsi” for red and blue bezeled timepieces. Now, the Seiko 5 Sports x Pepsi collaboration makes that connection official with two limited-edition models that challenge the traditional hierarchy of GMT watches.
As you know, we love our watch nicknames. Batman, Hulk, Root Beer — these monikers become part of the culture, passed down from collector to collector like family heirlooms. However, the “Pepsi” designation has always held special weight, primarily because of the iconic red and blue bezel on the Rolex GMT-Master that resembles the soda brand’s colors.
Seiko just changed the game entirely.

Two models make the Pepsi connection official
The Japanese manufacturer released two distinct models under this collaboration: the SSK047 GMT and the SRPL99 three-hand model. Both watches carry official Pepsi branding, making them the first timepieces that can legitimately be called “Pepsi watches” without asterisks or explanations.
The SSK047 represents a modern approach. Built on a 42.5 mm steel case with a black hard coating, this GMT model takes inspiration from contemporary Pepsi branding. Its bidirectional bezel features the classic red and blue split and is made of transparent Hardlex with printed colors underneath. GMT enthusiasts will be particularly interested in the automatic caliber 4R34 movement, which provides true GMT functionality at an accessible price point.
The clean, functional dial features large luminous markers outlined in blue and a red 24-hour hand for the GMT complication. Seiko placed the modern Pepsi logo at the six o’clock position, creating a direct visual connection to the brand partnership.

The vintage alternative evokes nostalgia for the 1990s
The SRPL99 takes a different approach, drawing inspiration from 1990s Pepsi branding and colors. This 38mm model feels more compact and approachable, especially for those who find modern GMT watches too large for daily wear.
The uncoated steel case measures 38 mm by 44 mm and has 100-meter water resistance. It is topped by a unidirectional rotating bezel with a metallic blue and red insert. Unlike the GMT model’s 50/50 color split, this bezel uses red only for the first 20 minutes, following traditional diving watch conventions.
The silvery-white dial perfectly captures the aesthetic of vintage Pepsi packaging and features blue-outlined luminous markers and the circular Pepsi logo from the 1990s. The automatic caliber 4R36 movement provides reliable timekeeping with day-date functionality, a 3 Hz frequency, and a 41-hour power reserve.

Why this collaboration matters
This partnership represents more than just another limited-edition release. For decades, watch enthusiasts have used the nickname “Pepsi” for this type of watch, despite having no official connection to the brand. Rolex never embraced the nickname for their GMT-Master, despite its widespread use in the community.
Seiko recognized this opportunity and acted on it. The result validates what collectors have known for years: the appeal of red and blue bezeled watches extends far beyond any single manufacturer’s offerings.
The pricing makes these watches particularly compelling: The GMT model retails for €540, while the three-hand version costs €380. Compare that to current market prices for Rolex GMT-Master models and the value proposition becomes clear.

Production details and availability
Both models are limited to 7,000 pieces, ensuring exclusivity without making them impossible to obtain. Seiko plans to begin deliveries in September 2025, giving enthusiasts time to decide between the two variants.
The packaging deserves special mention. Rather than using traditional watch boxes, Seiko has chosen to package both models in containers shaped like Pepsi cans. This attention to thematic detail demonstrates Seiko’s dedication to making this collaboration feel authentic rather than opportunistic.

The SSK047 GMT features a silicone strap with embossed Pepsi branding. This is the first time a SKX-series GMT model has used this type of strap. The SRPL99 includes a three-link brushed steel bracelet that complements its vintage-inspired design.
Watch collecting has always been about more than just timekeeping. We collect stories, connections, and cultural moments frozen in metal and crystal. This Seiko collaboration captures the playful side of serious watch collecting, something that traditional luxury brands often miss.
Now, you can own an officially branded Pepsi watch without spending thousands of dollars or joining waitlists. The democratization of this iconic design benefits the entire hobby.
Will these watches become future collectibles? Only time will tell. For now, though, they offer an accessible entry point into GMT and dive watch collecting, backed by reliable movements and thoughtful design.
