The arrival of the Nike Air Max Plus “Lisboa” celebrates the deep cultural connection between a popular sneaker and a city. This new release honors Lisbon, Portugal, where the Air Max Plus is extremely popular. The sneaker’s unique aesthetic draws inspiration from azulejos, the painted, tin-glazed ceramic tiles that are a hallmark of Portuguese art and architecture.

The upper is adorned with intricate blue and white azulejo patterns on its mesh. Yellow accents within the pattern and golden touches on the Swoosh reflect the city’s lively spirit and warm tones. Nike designers also included a tiled pattern beneath the translucent gum rubber outsoles, which are visible from below and reinforce the artistic theme. The word “Lisboa” is prominently displayed on the tongue, and a special jewel logo above it features a modified version of Lisbon’s flag in which the Swoosh replaces the city’s coat of arms.
