BTS‘ Jin, whose full name is Kim Seok-jin, has been named Gucci‘s newest global ambassador, joining the iconic fashion house’s star-studded line-up of Korean ambassadors including Hanni of NewJeans, Lee Jung Jae, Park Gyu Young and Jay Park.
Creative director Sabato de Sarno praised the 31-year-old singer and songwriter’s extraordinary artistry and ability to move people with his music, and expressed the brand’s honor to share this journey with him. Jin, who has worn Gucci on numerous occasions, reciprocated the admiration, describing the brand as “iconic” with a “long-standing heritage and modernity.”
Jin’s appointment as global ambassador comes as Gucci strengthens its ties with South Korea. The brand will launch its “Gucci Cultural Month” initiative in Seoul on October 15th, paying tribute to the heritage of Korean culture by highlighting the work of renowned figures who have elevated local art to a global scale. The project will feature conceptual artist Kimsooja, filmmaker Chan Wook Park, contemporary dancer Eun Me Ahn and pianist Seong Jin Cho, celebrating their contributions through various media.
Since their debut in 2013, BTS has played a significant role in the global popularity of K-pop, winning numerous awards and topping charts around the world. The group has sold over 40 million albums, cementing their status as the best-selling group in South Korea.
Last month, Jin, who recently completed his mandatory military service, was named the first global ambassador for jewelry brand Fred and was an Olympic torchbearer for South Korea at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He also has a partnership with food brand Ottogi’s Jin Ramen noodle franchise.
BTS will reform in June 2025, after the rest of the members have completed their military service.
