Schiaparelli, the legendary Parisian fashion house, has taken a playful plunge into the sneaker world with its first-ever sneaker design.

Unveiled on the runway during their Spring/Summer 2024 ready-to-wear show in Paris last September, Creative director Daniel Roseberry took the classic silhouette and injected it with a healthy dose of Schiaparelli’s signature whimsy. The base is made from luxurious ecru canvas, but the real eye-catchers are the gold trompe l’oeil toes, meticulously crafted in brass. This playful detail adds a touch of surrealism, a hallmark of the Schiaparelli aesthetic.

The design is further elevated by an unexpected element – an irregular tape measure motif adorns the edges of the sole. And for a final touch of playful subversion, a trompe l’oeil footprint adorns the bottom of the shoe.

It’s the fantasy of couture made for the street,” Roseberry said in a statement. He sees the sneaker as a personal emblem, bridging the gap between his American background and his Parisian present . “This sneaker is particularly meaningful to me,” Roseberry said, “because it symbolizes what I am: an American in Paris. It embodies the meeting of two worlds: American comfort and the rigor of French chic.”

The aptly named “Gold Toe Trainers” retail for a cool €2,300 euros ($2,450 USD) and are currently available at 21 Place Vendôme in Paris, Bergdorf Goodman in New York, Harrods in London, and Neiman Marcus in Dallas and Los Angeles.
