British actor and rising star, Harris Dickinson, known for his recent role in the film “Triangle of Sadness“, graces the cover of CR MEN‘s 16th issue. The cover features a striking portrait captured by photographer Benjamin Lennox. Dickinson’s ensemble includes a Miu Miu sweater, a Prada shirt, a Thomas Pink tie, and Palace Skateboards pants. As a unique touch, an earring from Emily Frances Barrett adorns his tie, adding an edgy twist to the sophisticated look.
In the accompanying cover story, stylist Ben Schofield curates an array of outfits showcasing designs from noteworthy fashion brands such as JW Anderson, Robyn Lynch, CK1 Palace, ERL, S.S.Daley, Dries Van Noten, Martine Rose, Levi’s and AMI Alexandre Mattiussi.

In a candid conversation with Raven Smith at a hotel bar in London’s Soho, Harris Dickinson, a BAFTA-nominated actor on the verge of becoming a household name, reflects on the transformation of leading men in Hollywood. Dickinson recalls a 1991 Philip Seymour Hoffman interview that reveals the harsh criticism Hoffman faced early in his career. Dickinson is intrigued by the shift in perception of Hoffman after his Oscar-winning role in ‘’Capote’’ and identifies with the challenges of evolving from a character actor to a bona fide leading man.
Dickinson’s roles in independent films like ‘’Beach Rats’’ and ‘’The Souvenir Part II’’, as well as action-packed blockbusters like ‘’The King’s Man’’, demonstrate his versatility. He has portrayed a charming Disney prince in ‘’Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’’ and the young Richard Attenborough in ‘’See How They Run’’, alongside Sam Rockwell. Despite his diverse filmography, Dickinson remains grounded, saying, “I take acting very seriously, but at the same time, I don’t take myself seriously“.
In Ruben Östlund’s 2022 Palme d’Or-winning ‘’Triangle of Sadness’’, Dickinson plays Carl, a complex character caught in a satirical exploration of wealth, beauty, and privilege. Dickinson’s performance showcases his ability to tackle morally ambiguous roles without resorting to a conventional macho lead archetype. He believes there’s still a place for hypermasculinity in cinema, “as long as there’s another perspective of it“.
Upcoming projects for Dickinson include Steve McQueen’s film ‘’Blitz’’, co-starring Saoirse Ronan, and FX miniseries ‘’Retreat’’ with Emma Corrin. Both projects defy the traditional mold of leading men, reflecting Dickinson’s preference for challenging roles: “Some things can be so wrong and so interesting“. As the paradigm of brooding, stoic heroes evolves, Harris Dickinson is ready to redefine what it means to be a leading man in Hollywood.
