Staying in London, designer Vivienne Westwood was noted by her absence in Paris, even for her fashion show represented and designed by her design partner Andreas Kronthaler.
For his mixed Spring/Summer 2023 collection Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood, the partner and successor of Vivienne Westwood reinterpreted the stylistic characteristics that have made the success of the brand, in a personal way.
Conceived as a love letter to Paris, where he has been a frequent visitor for thirty years – “This collection is my dream. I couldn’t explain it to Vivienne, I didn’t know it, I just had to do it. I walked out the house and thought I was in Paris – something about the sky made me realise how much I wanted to be there”, Kronthaler explained in a press release – Kronthaler’s collection stripped away the gender issue and slipped into regencycore style.
Largely made using deadstock mesh and styled with some of Kronthaler’s own wardrobe, pieces were worn independently by both men and women. Highlights included corsets, crocheted underwear, ripped collar t-shirts, voluminous silky satin dresses, suspenders and harnesses, all worn with very high-heeled platforms.
