As we all know, fashion is a polluting industry, especially fast-fashion, supported by over-consumption. There have been many efforts in the industry lately to counter wasteful practices, with more and more designers and brands seeking to raise awareness of this issue and minimize their own carbon footprint. Among them is Vivienne Westwood, who is emerging as the pioneering figure in sustainable fashion.

With the Fall/Winter 2022 season, the British designer has once again focused on sustainability and recycling, using mainly low-impact and cruelty-free materials, while revisiting one of her previous collections: the ‘’Gold Label Winter’’ archive collection from 2001.
‘’Wild Beauty’’, as this collection is named, refers not only to the 2001 collection, but also to the Year of the Tiger, which began earlier this month. Just as the tiger reflects strength, dynamism and natural beauty, so too does this Vivienne Westwood collection, with patterns and prints on several pieces nodding to this majestic animal.
Other key pieces in the collection include classic suits in a variety of the house’s signature plaids and vibrant stripes; aviator jackets with oversized shoulders and a longer cut; or bold graphic ensembles like one featuring the designer’s hand-painted eyes, a sort of a symbol of protection to ward off the evil eye.
