The fashion world is eagerly awaiting Haider Ackermann’s debut as Creative director for Tom Ford, scheduled for February in Paris. In the meantime, the Spring/Summer 2025 collection, a collaborative effort from the Tom Ford studio, offers a compelling glimpse into the brand’s DNA. This season, the collection revisits the sleek and seductive aesthetic of the 1960s and 1970s, a period synonymous with Ford’s initial rise in fashion.

Sheer knits, flowing jumpsuits, and midriff-baring blouses dominate the collection over narrow fringed skirts and shorts. The color palette remains refined and restrained, with a sophisticated mix of pale neutrals, black and ivory.

While the collection briefly touches on classic daytime tailoring reminiscent of the Peter Hawkings era, the focus remains on the brand’s recent evolution. Slim leather blazers, trousers, playsuits, luxurious cargo pants, bomber jackets and drawstring shorts, often revealing “Tom Ford” branded underwear, make a bold statement. Accessories are not neglected: the iconic padlock heel makes a welcome return, accompanied by a fresh iteration of the coveted Tara handbag.

Eveningwear takes center stage with a pistachio featherweight metal sequin minidress that radiates stage presence. A silver metal fringe bandeau, intricately bound in snakeskin, evokes a pop princess aura when paired with low-slung trousers. Lurex tuxedo tailoring hints at the potential for Ackermann’s signature touch, promising an exciting evolution for the brand.

Despite the anticipation surrounding Ackermann’s debut, the Spring/Summer 2025 collection reaffirms the enduring power of the Tom Ford name. The collection masterfully embodies the brand’s codes, showcasing the sensual allure of seductive knits, often woven with metallic threads. The inclusion of sharp tailoring, a hallmark of Ford’s menswear success, further solidifies the collection’s strength. A standout piece is the impeccably cut pinstriped wool jacket, which is echoed in evening variations in fabrics with a subtle, velvety sheen. A floor-length t-shirt dress embellished with delicate silver beading is a triumph of evening wear, effortlessly balancing wearability with statement appeal.
