Taqwa Bint Ali, a rising star in the fashion industry, has partnered with adidas Originals to create a footwear collection that blends performance-driven design with understated fashion styles. You may know Bint Ali from her work with Levi’s, Fendi and Jean Paul Gaultier. She’s a big advocate for Muslim women’s representation in both fashion and sports. Her latest collaboration with the Three Stripes brings back two vintage designs from the adidas archives, mixing retro running styles with modern ballet-inspired details.

The collection features two standout shoes: the adiStar Pose and the Megaride Mary Jane, both inspired by adidas running shoes of the past, but with Bint Ali’s own twist. The adiStar Pose keeps the same sole, but the upper has been redesigned. Gone are the laces and in their place you’ll find a Mary Jane strap with overlays and a cut-out panel for a modern touch. The Megaride Mary Jane follows suit, offering a similar blend of functionality and style.
The entire collection has a sleek, understated look that fits right in with Bint Ali’s other work through Galeries Zarafet, the modest fashion platform she co-founded. The muted color palette is a nod to the retro spirit of the original adidas designs, and the shoes are versatile enough for everyday wear. Breathable uppers and tested cushioning make the collection comfortable enough for urban environments from Zarzis to Tokyo.
Bint Ali’s collaboration with adidas Originals reflects her commitment to inclusivity and representation. She said on Instagram that she wanted her designs to be relatable to all girls, especially those in cities that are important to her. She incorporated ballet and modest fashion into the designs to reach a wide audience while staying true to her roots.

The Taqwa Bint Ali x adidas Originals capsule will be released on January 22nd via the adidas website and CONFIRMED app, with each pair retailing for $130 USD.
