At Sacai, Chitose Abe wasted no time, her first look announced the color. Thus, the collection began with a hybridized tuxedo-shirt combination, the pleats of the black jacket and white button-down intermingling at their hems. It was worn with a kicky pair of fitted pleated pants, more like leggings than trousers, that opened into flares a few inches north of the ankles.
This season, Sacai was all about pleats. Chitose Abe’s optimism was reflected in the pleats galore that expressed freedom – of mind and movement.
Featuring subtle flower prints, representative of future life, hope and optimism, the collection saw a number of garments change shape and form as they moved, encouraging viewers to consider new perspectives.
