Moving away from the total glamour of last season, he focused largely on precise and well-executed tailoring. The result was oversized trench coats, jackets, shirts and pants in a palette of classic neutrals, sprinkled with bright touches of college style and a bit of sparkle.
Student life inspirations were also reflected in the many references to sports, behind teddys stamped with colorful logos, two-tone mini-dresses sometimes embellished with feathers reminiscent of cheerleaders, bodysuits marked with the word “UNIVERSITY” or even the multi-colored windbreakers, conducive to outdoor training. While tones ranged from sand and camel to black, gray and ecru white, Hwang’s color palette of deep gold and royal blue revived this season‘s university-centric inspiration.
