The prestigious watchmaking manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre continues to redefine the art of ultra-thin timepieces with the latest iteration of the Master Ultra Thin collection, which stands as a paragon of elegance and mechanical refinement. This year, the collection is joined by the Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar, a watch that combines historic craftsmanship with contemporary design.
The Master Ultra Thin collection from Jaeger-LeCoultre is synonymous with the highest standards of timekeeping and design. The 2024 refresh includes subtle yet significant improvements to the case and dial, as well as a robust increase in power reserve.
One of the most striking features of the new Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar is its case design. While retaining the classic 39mm diameter and 9.2mm thickness, the proportions of the case have been fine-tuned. The lugs are now slimmer and more elongated, ensuring a better fit on different wrist sizes and enhancing comfort without sacrificing style.

The perpetual calendar complication is one of the most difficult for watchmakers to master, as it must automatically adjust for months of different lengths and leap years. The heart of this timepiece, the Caliber 868, designed and assembled entirely in-house, now boasts a power reserve of 70 hours. Such a large reserve is particularly advantageous for a watch with complex indications, as it allows the wearer to put the watch away for the weekend and resume its use without having to make any adjustments.
The dial of the Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar has also been carefully redesigned. While retaining its classic symmetry and balance, the dial now features more refined sub-dials that enhance legibility. The moon-phase display adds a touch of intrigue with its intricate depiction of a starry sky. The Dauphine hands have also been redesigned, with each facet featuring a different finish – polished and satinized – that catches and reflects the light beautifully, ensuring clarity and readability at a glance.
Jaeger-LeCoultre offers four versions of the Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar to satisfy different tastes. These include a model with a striking midnight blue gradient sunray dial in a pink gold case, and two pink gold eggshell dials, one with diamonds and the other without. There is also a steel version with a sunray brushed silver dial, demonstrating the collection’s versatility.
Each timepiece in the Master Ultra Thin collection is paired with an alligator strap that can be easily changed to match the wearer’s mood or style, underlining the personalization aspect that Jaeger-LeCoultre fans cherish.
