Influenced by the founders of the house Rosita and Ottavio Missoni who in 1967 showed a collection on models without bras because they arrived in the wrong color – the event caused a scandal and the banishment of the couple in Florence. The brand then exiled to Milan, its runway home ever since – the new Missoni collection by its new creative director Filippo Grazioli was decidedly graphic, bold and sexy.
Grazioli focused on miniskirts with deep V slits, many of which were very thin and worn over knit briefs or bodysuits in the Italian brand’s iconic space-dyed knits.
Models brazenly walked the runway bra-less through sheer tops and light and slinky knitwear in recognizable Missoni patterns in crystals and sequins, while colors reduced to just five options, with yellow, cyan and magenta playing against inky black and optical white, further increasing the glamour quotient.
