Chanel has announced Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o as its newest ambassador. The partnership cements a decades-long relationship between the iconic fashion house and the Kenyan-Mexican star.
Nyong’o has consistently turned heads at high-profile events, often draped in Chanel’s exquisite creations, such as a Chanel Haute Couture dress at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles last December or her presence at the Fall/Winter 2023 Haute Couture show in Paris.
Since her breakout role in “12 Years a Slave,” for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, Nyong’o has starred in blockbusters including “Black Panther” and the “Star Wars” saga. Her versatility extends beyond the silver screen, as evidenced by her recent voice work in “The Wild Robot” and her upcoming stage appearance in Shakespeare in the Park’s “Twelfth Night” with Peter Dinklage, Sandra Oh and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Nyong’o’s influence extends beyond acting. Her children’s book, “Sulwe,” about colorism, became a New York Times bestseller. She also explores the experiences of Africans around the world in her newly launched podcast, ”Mind Your Own.”
As a Chanel ambassador, Nyong’o joins an elite group of talent that includes Margot Robbie, Riley Keough, Whitney Peak and Kristen Stewart.
