Louis Vuitton has created stunning suitcases to house the iconic torches and medals for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Olympic torch will begin its journey from Marseille to Paris on May 8th, arriving in Paris on July 14th, while the Paralympic torch will set off in August from Stoke Mandeville, England, the site of the first competition for wheelchair athletes in 1948. The two flames will pass through the hands of more than 11,000 torchbearers. The Louis Vuitton suitcases will protect and display these symbols of Olympism and Paralympism throughout their journey.
Pietro Beccari, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, expressed the brand’s honor and pride to be part of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. “We are honored and extremely proud to be part of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with the mission of packing and presenting the defining symbols of Olympism and Paralympism,” he said. Designed to protect the torches and medals, the trunks showcase Vuitton’s 170-year heritage of creating exceptional travel goods.
The torch trunks feature Vuitton’s signature Damier canvas, brass corners and closures, with black leather interiors to protect the champagne-colored torches designed by French industrial designer Mathieu Lehanneur, and to create a striking backdrop when opened for display, the hinged lid bearing an embossed Paris 2024 logo. Covered in the iconic Monogram canvas, the medal trunks feature a central section and hinged wings that reveal drawers that securely hold 468 medals designed by Chaumet.
As a Premium Partner of the Paris 2024 Games, LVMH has created the slogan “Artisans of All Victories” to highlight the link between the know-how of craftsmen and athletes in their quest for excellence. Antoine Arnault, LVMH‘s Image and Environment Director, emphasized the Group’s role as a creative partner and its pride in unveiling these original creations that will become part of the history of the Games.
