The stage is set for Lionel Messi, as he returns for a solo appearance in a captivating Louis Vuitton campaign, following his victorious World Cup run.
Following the sensational Louis Vuitton advertisement featuring both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo last November 2022, Messi has stepped back into the spotlight for a second collaboration with the prestigious brand. The initial campaign, which depicted the soccer icons engaged in a high-stakes chess match, went viral, contributing to Ronaldo becoming the first person to surpass 500 million followers on Instagram. Messi’s return was spurred by his triumphant World Cup performance, where he led Argentina to their first victory since 1986.
The newest campaign, titled “Horizons Never End“, was captured by renowned photographer Glen Luchford. Set in an airport, the striking images showcase the Paris Saint-Germain star alongside the Horizon suitcase, meticulously crafted by designer Marc Newson. Launching internationally in print and on Louis Vuitton’s social channels, the campaign emphasizes the brand’s commitment to luxury, innovation, and its longstanding partnership with FIFA.
The Horizon suitcase, first introduced in 2016, is a testament to Louis Vuitton‘s dedication to quality and craftsmanship. Made of molded mesh composite and enveloped in a specially developed Monogram or Damier canvas, the lightweight case is finished with natural cowhide trim. This collaboration between Messi and the iconic brand is reminiscent of the 2010 ”Core Values” campaign, which featured legendary soccer players Pele, Maradona and Zinedine Zidane engaging in a lively game of table football.
Messi’s illustrious career has been marked by numerous achievements, including claiming the prestigious Ballon d’Or award multiple times. His ongoing relationship with Louis Vuitton reflects the brand’s commitment to excellence and a rich history of crafting trophy cases for a variety of sports, such as tennis, basketball, rugby, and Formula 1. Since 2010, Vuitton has maintained a fruitful partnership with FIFA, designing the travel case for the World Cup trophy and launching a capsule collection of soccer-themed leather goods.
