After several years of showroom presentations, Japanese designer Junichi Abe’s Kolor label returns to the physical format this season with a co-ed collection – the brand’s last runway show was in 2017.
Moving away from his usual Americana and collegiate codes, Junichi Abe continued to experiment with deconstruction and disjointed layering, but with more streamlined forms.
This approach can be seen on a bottle green blazer with a different colored shirt collar added to the inside, creating a sort of trompe l’œil. The same construction can be found on shirts and polo shirts, while on a pair of shorts, its lining exceeded on one side, creating a striking and bold contrast.
Different materials combined and contrasting colors came together in a perfectly executed and mastered mix of discordance.
