KENZO unveils the ultimate and final Spring/Summer 2022 capsule collection designed by its new creative director, the Japanese Nigo.
- “The New Folkness” by Laurie Bartley for Elle Italia December 12th, 2024
- Liu Wen in Chanel Métiers d’Art on W Magazine China “The Artisan Issue” by Louise & Maria Thornfeldt
- Matthieu Blazy joins Chanel as Artistic director following Bottega Veneta success
For this fourth and final installment of a series of limited edition capsules, Nigo temporarily abandons his boke flower, which has become KENZO’s new signature since his arrival at the house, to bring out the Poppy print, a symbol dear to Kenzo Takada, on all these pieces that breathe spring. The poppy, revisited here in a contemporary way, is splashed everywhere, sometimes subtly here on the pocket of a soft jersey t-shirt, there on the back pocket of cotton twill shorts; sometimes in all-over on a Hawaiian poplin shirt or cotton drill shorts.
The red of this flower, symbol of passionate love, stands out with brilliant beauty on the monochrome pieces of white, black, navy or pink of this unisex collection in its essence.
Since joining the house, Nigo has paid homage to the brand’s founder with every capsule he has developed. Drawing from Kenzo Takada’s incredible archives, he is inspired by the importance of flora and fauna, which are very present in Mr. Takada’s creations, as a means of conveying symbols and emotions.
The limited edition capsule will hit stores and kenzo.com on May 6.
