Givenchy, the renowned French luxury fashion house, has opened its flagship store in Beverly Hills. Located on prestigious Rodeo Drive, the store occupies the entirety of Anderton Court Shops, a stunning architectural gem designed by the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright in 1952, the same year Hubert de Givenchy founded his eponymous brand in Paris.
Valerie Leon, Givenchy’s president of the Americas, emphasized the importance of choosing a space that resonated with the brand’s identity, and the Frank Lloyd Wright building proved to be the perfect choice. “For Givenchy’s first permanent store in Los Angeles, it was important to select a space that would resonate with our brand. Given Hubert de Givenchy’s love of art and architecture, the Frank Lloyd Wright building felt like the right choice, and the opportunity to bring Givenchy to life there was inspiring,” she said.
The 8,000-square-foot (743 m²) building, originally designed as a multi-unit complex, now houses Givenchy as the first single company to occupy the entire space. The store is cleverly divided into “Shop 1” for menswear and “Shop 2” for women’s accessories and shoes, with an upper level dedicated to women’s ready-to-wear. The building’s iconic external angular ramp, reminiscent of Wright’s design for New York’s Guggenheim Museum, seamlessly connects the different sections.
Givenchy meticulously preserved the spirit of each store while paying homage to the building’s rich history. The renovation project, led by architect Victor Fuentes and cultural resources planner Flora Chou, uncovered and restored original features such as the diamond-scored concrete ceilings and floors, which are painted in Wright’s signature red. The discovery of two original fireplaces and the incorporation of colorful details using an archival tiger print fabric further enhance the store’s unique character.
Currently showcasing Givenchy’s Pre-Fall 2024 and summer men’s and women’s merchandise from the Givenchy Plage collection, the flagship store offers a wide range of men’s and women’s items, including exclusive pieces such as white leather cowboy boots with turquoise stitching and a mini Antigona lock bag in white leather with turquoise strass stitching. In the coming year, additional spaces, including a VIP salon and a Givenchy Experience area, will be introduced to enhance the shopping experience.
With the opening of this flagship store, Givenchy now has nine locations in the United States, with a tenth store scheduled to open this September at NorthPark Center in Dallas.
