Giambattista Valli celebrated its 10th anniversary in the Haute Couture Week calendar with an exclusive fashion show that took place on the beautiful Place Vendôme.
With a joyful backdrop reminiscent of New York’s Studio 54, decorated with dozens of childlike metallic balloons, including adorable octopuses, crabs and dolphins, Giambattista Valli sent voluminous and opulent silhouettes down the runway that stayed true to his well-known red carpet designs.
His exuberant, “elegant” Italian flair was expressed in miles and miles of tulle, acres of silk faille and vast, disheveled expanses of silk duchess.
These feather and tulle dresses, so recognizable to Giambattista Valli, were sometimes paired with pants, sometimes matched with big rhinestone sunglasses that add a retro-futuristic touch.
The apotheosis came during the finale where six white looks featuring different versions of the tulle skirt paired with the atelier’s own rolled up and low-cut white smocks. The ensembles were simple and adorned only with the brand’s logo on the front shirt pocket and accessorized with black bow belts.
