Following Marco de Vincenzo’s departure earlier this year, Etro Spring 2027 arrives under the direction of the house’s internal design team. The result is a collection that looks inward rather than trying to reinvent the brand. Its main task is clear: keep Etro recognisable while making the clothes feel lighter and less burdened by heritage.

The collection is titled “Halo,” and the idea is built around changing light. The opening looks come in pale, dusty tones that suggest morning, while deeper aubergine and evening shades arrive later. On the runway in Milan, pampas grass reinforced the sense of an imagined late-summer landscape. The setting was soft and atmospheric, but the clothes themselves remained grounded in familiar Etro language.
Paisley, of course, plays a central role. This time it often appears faded, tonal or softened into the surface of the fabric. Printed caftans sit alongside nylon windbreakers, while suede and denim jackets use patchwork to reinterpret the motif in a quieter way. The effect is less decorative than expected and more about texture and memory.

The strongest looks are also the easiest to understand. Long dresses move freely with asymmetric ruffles and light fabrics. Sheer blouses and slip dresses bring a relaxed sensuality, while crochet, lingerie-style tops and netted pieces push the collection toward summer dressing. There are also more practical options, including chocolate tailoring and plaid suits, which stop the collection from becoming entirely beach-bound.
That balance between ease and polish is important. Etro has long been associated with travel, pattern and a kind of cultured bohemianism. Here, the studio tries to make those ideas feel less fixed. You can see the same house vocabulary moving between daywear, holiday clothes and evening pieces without a strict divide.

Lurex threads and subtle shine help with that transition. As the palette grows darker, the fabrics become richer and more reflective. The change is gradual rather than dramatic, which suits the collection’s broader mood.

Still, the line is not completely resolved. The lightness that makes some looks appealing also makes the overall proposition feel less cohesive in places. There are many recognisable Etro elements, but not always a strong enough point of view connecting them.
That may be the key question for the brand now. Etro Spring 2027 shows that the house still has a deep visual identity and a flexible archive. What comes next will depend on how clearly that heritage can be edited into a more defined contemporary direction.
