Design extraordinaire Rick Owens has reconceptualized the iconic Converse Chuck 70, introducing an original way of wearing the timeless silhouette.
The result is a striking new design, the Laceless TURBODRK Chuck 70, a testament to the innovative spirit inherent in Owens’ creative partnerships with Converse and his brand, DRKSHDW.
The fresh interpretation of the Chuck 70 is marked by an infusion of innovation and distortion, staples of collaborations between Converse and DRKSHDW. The Laceless TURBODRK Chuck 70 is a distinctive version of the classic silhouette, featuring an elastic overlay across the tongue for secure and effortless wear, thereby offering potential wearers the freedom from laces.
This reinvented sneaker has been unveiled in a brand new campaign, featuring the musical icon and feminist powerhouse, Peaches. In the continuation of his portrait series, Owens uses this platform to spotlight Peaches, a versatile artist who excels in music production, directing, and performance art.
The TURBODRK Chuck 70, initially introduced in 2021, is a reflection of Owens’ practice of cultural contortion. This approach is evident in his decision to redesign the iconic Converse shoe. The current iteration of Converse x DRKSHDW partnership introduces the “Max Grind” process on the TURBODRK sole for the first time. This innovative method allows the incorporation of up to 40% recycled and reused rubber waste from Converse shoe production into the sole. The outsole is finished with the rubber star emblem of the shoe and the heel, featuring a unique speckled aesthetic.
The Laceless TURBODRK Chuck 70 is available in two vibrant colorways: bright pink and gray. This release is complemented by limited-edition Converse x DRKSHDW tote bags and bucket hats in matching hues, adding a final touch to this exclusive capsule.
The exclusive TURBODRK Chuck 70 Laceless edition has been globally available since May 16th. It can be purchased from converse.com, rickowens.eu, Rick Owens boutiques, and selected retailers.
